Vilyn C. So is the only daughter of a bet collector in Pasay City and an OFW in the Middle East. She has three brothers and the second child in the family. They moved to Palo Alto, Laguna 9 years ago. She used to study in a private school, but moved to a public school on her sophomore year and finished her secondary schooling there. Unfortunately, the family still had financial problems even if her mother and eldest brother are both working.
Vilyn topped her class in Anihan. She did her on-the-job-training in Rambla, a Mediterranean restaurant in Rockwell Center in Makati and was eventually absorbed as part of the kitchen team. After two years as an employee, she moved to another restaurant in Rockwell Center called Dean and Deluca. Being smart, hardworking, and possessing good work ethics, she was promoted as kitchen manager. Apart from the restaurant’s branch in Rockwell Center, she is sometimes assigned in another branch at Eton Building along De la Rosa St., also in Makati.
When Vilyn was invited to give a testimony for the graduation rites last 2016, many graduates, guests, parents, and students were inspired with what she has achieved professionally in a short span of time. Aside from helping her parents in sending her brothers to school, she was able to get her own house that she pays in an installment basis. She considers this as her first investment.
