ABOUT US

Foundation for Professional Training, Inc.

Lifelong development for women from all walks of life is the primary focus of the Foundation for Professional Training, Inc. Guided by this thrust, the FPTI Schools believe that raising the educational level of women and developing their skills – whether it be for house chores or institutional services – redounds to the good of the family they belong and the community they serve.

Vision

Women committed to service and whole person development who will be agents for social transformation in all levels of society.

Mission

To contribute to the efforts of nation-building by empowering women of all walks of life – especially from the less privileged sectors – through development education, skills training, and character-building founded on Christian values of life and work.

We believe in

  • Recognition of the dignity of the person as the sustainable foundation for development.
  • Development education as a lasting solution to overcome the negative effects of poverty: the lack of skills, opportunities for employment, lack of self-esteem and self-reliance, lack of access to social integration.
  • Continuing professional training to ensure competent service.
  • Active participation of women in various aspects of development.
  • Good governance and responsible partnership with stakeholders to enhance effectiveness of development efforts.

What we do

  • We develop institutional readiness to undertake educational development cooperation projects.
  • We develop innovative approaches of non-formal and formal education in support of lifelong learning activities of women.
  • We manage training centers offering technical-vocational programs to enhance employment opportunities in residential and institutional services.
  • We conduct continuing programs among trainers and volunteers that will strengthen institutional support and capability.
  • We promote advocacy programs that will heighten awareness of socio-civic responsibilities among individuals and corporate entities.
  • We support the promotion of technical-vocational training in the Philippines.

Our inspiration

At the very core of FPTI’s philosophy are the teachings of St. Josemaría Escrivá about work and the ordinary life of a Christian. The Founder of Opus Dei once said in an interview:

“Women are called to bring to the family, to society and to the Church, characteristics which are their own and which they alone can give: their gentle warmth and untiring generosity, their love for detail, their quick-wittedness and intuition, their simple and deep piety, their constancy… A woman’s femininity is genuine only if she is aware of the beauty of this contribution for which there is no substitute – and if she incorporates it into her own life.” (Conversations with Monsignor Escriva de Balaguer, no. 87)

In one of his homilies, the Saint of the Ordinary wrote: “Work, all work, bears witness to the dignity of man, to his dominion over creation. It is an opportunity to develop one’s personality. It is a bond of union with others, the way to support one’s family, a means of aiding in the improvement of the society in which we live and in the progress of all humanity.” (Christ is Passing By, no. 47)
